The Labrador West Status of Women Council/Women’s Centre is a feminist organization incorporated in 1977 by a group of teachers and social workers in response to the 1967 Royal Commission on the Status of Women in Canada and in response to the hiring practices of the local mining companies.
The Labrador West Status of Women Council/Women’s Centre offers various services in a “Women-Friendly” drop in environment. We are a community based organization that strives to achieve equality and justice through political activism, community collaboration and the creation of a safe and inclusive space for all women in Labrador West.
